Chicks With Bricks

According to its founder Holly Porter, Director of Surface to Air Architects, only 12% of those working within the construction sector are female – so it was a nice touch to have only 12% of the tickets allocated for our male peers. (And yes with safety in numbers they did indeed stick together!).

It was really interesting to hear from all the female speakers about their various experiences and roles in the construction sector but I have to say the highlight for me was Valerie Owen, OBE who received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s National Women in Construction Awards. In my view - too modest about her achievements and a very engaging speaker.

Overall it was a lively event and one I’ll be interested to see evolve. For those ladies (and indeed gents) who’d like to keep up to date then follow @withbricks
