6 months as a content creator apprentice for CIB

Apprenticeships are the way forward! CIB recently took on two apprenticeships at the beginning of the year, recognising the need to provide opportunities and develop young people coming into the industry. Six months in and I already feel like I’ve learnt a lot, from both CIB and Baltic Apprenticeships.

So far, I’ve had six different courses with Baltic covering a variety of topics, such as content planning, creating short and long form video content, creating graphics, SEO techniques and, most recently email marketing.

My favourite courses with Baltic have definitely been the more creative lessons, which included learning how to navigate and use different software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Canva, to create graphics and video content. I’ve already been able to put my newfound skills into practice, creating a range of content for various CIB clients and their social media feeds, including Thompson’s, Mabey Hire, Purdy and more.

Last month, I was also able to travel to Toolfair Harrogate, where we had the opportunity to film content for client Geocel. I really enjoyed being able to gain experience in the full process of content creation, from recording, to editing, creating captions and posting.

For me, choosing the apprenticeship route to get into marketing is something I’m glad I did. It’s a great opportunity to put what I’ve been learning into practice in a real working environment.
